Northport Golf Club Tournament Information

Twilight League: Two (2) nine-week sessions. Nine (9) hole match play on Tuesday nights. Will be matched up against other players of comparative handicaps. Must tee off by 5:30pm or forfeit. If unable to play on a given week, it is players responsibility to secure a sub and inform your partner as well as pro shop staff.

Scotch Foursome: Couples compete each Wednesday at 5:15 shotgun. A couple’s handicap is used, and the format is different each week. Handicaps: 40% of high handicapper and 60% of low handicapper divided by 2. Couples playing from forward tees will have gross handicaps adjusted. You must sign up by Tuesday night. Entry fee is $10 per week. Social evening to follow. If you don’t have a partner, contact the pro shop and they will try to find one for you.

Sunday Morning Tournaments: 8:00am shotgun start before Memorial Day and after Labor Day. 7:30am shotgun through the summer. Must sign up by close Friday night or go standby. Teams are made up using an ABCD handicap pairing. Entry fee is $15 per tournament, pins and sweeps which are flighted.

Prize Money: All monies won by individuals in any tournament will be put on the books as credit which may be used at any time in the pro shop to purchase merchandise. You may buy ahead of winnings if you choose and the amount will be charged to your account. The pro shop merchandise is owned and operated by the pro and your support would be greatly appreciated.

Player of the Year: Points are awarded to each player that places in either gross or net divisions on Twilight League, Sunday Tournaments, and Major Tournaments. They are weighted accordingly with Twilight being the smaller of points and the Majors carrying the most weight. The more you play, the more you win, gives you the best opportunity and this rewards the player that plays the best most often.

Member-Guest: Sign up emails will be sent out Saturday May 16, 2026. Must return intentions via email by June 6, 2026. If more than 36 teams have entered, then the committee will meet and a lottery will be drawn. These chosen will receive entry forms to be filled out and paid in full by Saturday, June 20, 2026, or will forfeit their spot. We have availability for 36 teams. Tournament chairman, current president, last year’s champions, and two committee members will have automatic entries if so desired.

Requirements:
Keep a copy of the schedule with you. Sign-up sheets are in the pro shop. Major tournaments require entry fee when signing up.

Major tournament matches must be played by the required date or may have to forfeit. The following format will be enforced:

1. If match is not played by the required date (regardless of reason), it is the responsibility of BOTH teams to contact current Pro, John Hickson, on or before the due date. Next day contacts will not be considered

2. Penalties:
A. If both teams fail to contact Pro, John Hickson, then both teams shall forfeit.
B. If only one (1) team contacts Pro, John Hickson, then the team which does not make contact will forfeit the match
C. If both teams contact the Pro, John Hickson, then he will listen to both parties and make a decision on when to play or if necessary, a forfeit is justified. His decision is final.

We will try to give three (3) weeks to play matches, at least in the early matches, especially the 4-Ball. Please don’t wait until the three (3) weeks are up and then ask for an extension.
